How Dad Can Support Pregnancy
There are many ways a dad can support a pregnancy, including:
Emotional support
Be a strong emotional support for your partner by attending prenatal and postnatal visits, taking walks together, and checking in on their emotional well-being.
Physical support
Help with household chores to give your partner more time to rest and care for the baby.
Cooking
Even the smell of food can make some pregnant women feel sick. So you could make the meals to help her avoid those smells.
Decision making
Take an active role in choosing a pediatrician, touring the birth hospital, and helping your partner make a birth plan.
Parenting responsibilities
Discuss with your partner how you think parenting responsibilities will change and how you might meet those new expectations.
Self-care
Look after yourself, your relationship, and your baby. If you need extra help or emotional support, speak with your maternal and child health nurse.
